The Windows system gets slower and less reliable without it being restarted.   It needs to be restarted to keep it running smoothly.   We recommend at least once a week. 


Note that turning it off and on again is NOT the same thing, so even if you shut your computer down overnight, it still isn't an actual restart so errors and problems persist.


NOTE FOR HOMEWORKERS REMOTELY ACCESSING OFFICE COMPUTER

NOTE: If you are working from home remotely controlling your office computer, you will need to avoid turning it off anyway, because the likelihood is that someone will need to go into the office to turn it on again.  You should practice extra care when restarting the remote computer.
