If you have an SME Server on site installed by Anthian, you can set your own out-of-office auto replies very easily by following these instructions.

You will need the following information:

Your server address (in the form of mail.myserver.co.uk etc.)

B Your user name (not the same as your email adddress - usually your first name or your first name plus initial)

C Your password (usually the same as your password to log in to your computer / your email password)

  1. Use a modern internet browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox

  2. Type the address of your server (as in A above) into the address bar at the top of your browser (NOT the google search bar) with /user afterwards so in the format myserver.co.uk/user and press Enter

  3. Skip past the security warning (in Chrome, click on advanced and then click on proceed to ... and in Firefox click on advanced then add expection then confirm)

  4. Log in with your user credentials B and C above

  5. Click on Vacation Message

  6. You'll see your existing vacation message in this format:

From: Ian Durrant <ian.durrant@anthian.co.uk>
Subject: Re: $SUBJECT - Away from my email

Please note, that I am now on annual leave until Monday 8th August. If you require urgent assistance then please contact my colleague, Anthony on 07977 114235 or email, anthony@heg.org.uk. All other mail will be dealt with upon my return.
Many thanks
Ian Durrant

  1. It is very important that you leave the blank line in between the subject and the text. Change the text accordingly, change Enable Vacation Message to Yes

  2. Depending on the version of your software, you might see Enable vacation on (YYYYMMDD) and Disable vacation on (YYYYMMDD). If you see these options, you can optionally fill these in with the start and end dates of your holiday period (leave the Enable field blank to start immediately) - the action occurs during the night.

  3. And finally click on Save.

Note that people emailing you will receive only one out-of-office notification per day from your address.

That’s it. On return from your holiday, you’ll need to do the above steps 1-5,  and then change Enable Vacation Message to No and click on Save [note that if you set it to disable automatically in step 8, you don't need to do this of course].
